Officer-issued traffic and driving charges.
TheParalegal.ca is a deliberately focused practice: we defend traffic and driving charges laid by a police officerunder the Highway Traffic Act, along with suspended-licence matters and licence reinstatement for unpaid provincial-offences fines.
- Speeding tickets (radar, lidar, or pacing)
- Stunt driving & racing (HTA s.172)
- Careless driving (HTA s.130)
- Distracted driving
- Fail to remain
- Driving under suspension (HTA s.53)
- Driving without insurance
- Licence reinstatement for unpaid fines
What we don't handle:parking tickets and camera-issued tickets (automated speed-enforcement cameras, red-light cameras). Those are administrative processes issued to the registered plate holder and follow a separate track.
Meet Danil Slovak, our founder.
TheParalegal.ca is led by Danil Slovak, a Licensed Paralegal in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario (#P10302), with 8+ years defending Ontario drivers. In his words:
I started The Paralegal because a traffic charge in Ontario is almost never just a ticket. It's your licence, your insurance rate for the next several years, and, on the more serious files, your ability to drive at all. Drivers deserve someone who takes that seriously and does the work properly — not a plea mill.
My practice is deliberately narrow. I defend Highway Traffic Act charges laid by a police officer — speeding, stunt driving, careless driving, distracted driving, fail to remain, driving under suspension, driving without insurance — plus suspended-licence matters and licence reinstatement for unpaid fines. Focusing on this area is how I stay sharp on disclosure, on the science behind speed-measuring devices, and on how each Provincial Offences court in Ontario actually runs.
What I promise every client is straightforward: full disclosure review, a straight read on what's realistic, and confident, careful representation from the first call to the courtroom. No outcome can be guaranteed on any file — but the work will be done properly.
